ADesignStudio is looking for a mid-weight Industrial Designer / Maker
We have an opportunity for a product designer with strong manufacturing knowledge and two to three years of relevant experience, to form an integral role within our growing company.
A Design Studio is a design and manufacturing practice, led by Alex Fitzpatrick. The studio is based in Sydney, Australia. The studio’s collections reveal a distinctly expressive approach to transforming space with light, using both traditional skills (glassblowing and metalworking) and contemporary lighting and manufacturing technologies, to find the balance between the scientific and the poetic.
Key responsibilities:
-to aid the development and delivery of new product ranges
-create, issue and manage drawings and design documentation
-take ownership of queries and follow through to completion
-provide cover for other members of the design department as necessary and perform other tasks if requested
-work directly with manufacturers on design production processes
-support the director
Skills and experience:
-2-4 years’ experience in product design
-excellent and proven organisational skills
-good knowledge of fabrication processes
-thorough understanding of tolerances and finishing
-understanding of electronics, LED, drivers and dimming fundamentals
-broad knowledge of solid works
-experience in product rendering
-photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign
-workshop experience
-experience of site work, installation and client liaison is desirable
