The reincarnation of a beloved Sydney restaurant, the recently reopened Flying Fish embodies the original venue with a fresh take for its new location at The Star Sydney. Specialising in artful seafood, the fitout is a refined nautical design by Paul Kelly. ADesignStudio worked in collaboration with the restaurant owners, interior designers and lighting designers Glowing Structures to create a series of light installations which appear to be floating in clusters over the dining experience. Referencing caviar, one of the restaurant’s signature dishes, the installation is made up of hundreds of round and organic shaped hand-blown illuminated glass orbs. Clear and milky finishes create subtle variation through the hanging clusters and the crackle finish projects a dappled light. As an adaptation of ADesignStudio’s Eon Collection, the orbs create patterns of light on the table to evoke the mood and ambience of an underwater setting.
Congratulations to the Flying Fish Restaurant for receiving a three-hat review from Gault & Millau!
