FlatWhite is a soft, simple and beautiful light, designed to be used and enjoyed every day, just like your morning coffee.
Prior to founding ADesignStudio, our founder, Alex Fitzpatrick specified lights for commercial projects, where he would often search for the perfect light that could be used for a broad range of applications. It needed to have a beautiful light quality and zero flicker; a simple design that could be placed and looked good everywhere; and be available at an affordable price point. Alex could never find the light he wanted, so he designed it himself, and named it FlatWhite for its looks and everyday use and enjoyment.
FlatWhite is smooth and tactile wall sconce that emits a warm white light (2700K, 3000K). The handblown glass shade, detailed with a concaved chamfer and acid-etch opal finish, captures the light within the glass and creates a soft diffusion without any glare.
FlatWhite is 100 millimetres in diameter and 60 millimetres deep. Like a cup of coffee, the glass shade scoops inward from the edges, and it appears to float off the wall with a cutaway heatsink. A black metallic ring between the glass and wall fades into the shadow so the most important aspect of the fitting – the light – is emphasised.
The simplicity and functionality of FlatWhite allow it to be used for a broad range of spaces and surfaces in commercial, residential and hospitality projects. It’s ideal for bathrooms, placed singularly, stacked or on either side of a mirror. It provides soft illumination in corridors and subtle light on feature ceilings.
Demonstrating the great versatility of FlatWhite, we have already seen strong interest for its application in a number of commercial, hospitality and residential projects and now keep a set number of FlatWhite in stock, with six- to eight-week lead times for larger orders.
FlatWhite is available now on via our website here plus more options are in development for launch in 2021, including a 160-millimetre-diameter shade; new glass finishes with a crafted aesthetic and a brass ring to add a dynamic metallic glimmer.
