Choir has been named the 2025 Casambi Product of the Year – a milestone for our studio and everyone involved in bringing this portable luminaire to life. The award recognises not only its technology, but the years of design thinking and prototyping behind it.
A portable light shaped by design
Choir began as a simple question: what should truly adaptable, portable light look and feel like today?
Led by Alex Fitzpatrick, the design focused on atmosphere as much as performance. Proportion, weight and tactility were refined through multiple prototypes – how Choir sits on a table, how it’s held, and how its components read as one calm, resolved form. Testing in real interiors helped shape a product people would instinctively reach for and move with them.
Technology in service of experience
Behind its quiet silhouette, Choir is a highly capable portable light. It is fully Casambi-integrated, offering:
- Smooth, flicker-free dimming
- Tuneable white (1800–3500 K), from candle-like warmth to a clearer working light
- Dual charging options
- Extended battery life for long services, evenings and events
The technology is there to support the experience: subtle changes in brightness and colour temperature help define mood, reveal materials and support different functions throughout the day and night.
Designed to move, built to last
Choir is designed to move easily between residential, hospitality and commercial settings – from a bedside table to a restaurant terrace or a lounge in a workplace. Its visual language is deliberately restrained, allowing it to sit comfortably in a wide range of interiors.
Equally important is how long it can live in those spaces. Choir’s modular, serviceable construction and interchangeable diffusers support repair, reuse and aesthetic updates over time. This reflects a core belief in our studio: lighting should be made to last – technically, visually and emotionally.
A meaningful recognition
Being named Casambi Product of the Year is a meaningful recognition of the collective effort behind Choir – from early sketches to final production. For us, it reinforces what we continue to pursue in every project: considered form, intelligent technology and a long-term approach to how light lives with people.
