Lighting the Welcome: Chatswood RSL Entranceway
Nestled in the vibrant, multicultural heart of Sydney’s North Shore, Chatswood RSL is more than a venue, it’s a gathering place for community, celebration, and connection. The entranceway sets the tone for this experience, offering a warm, cohesive welcome that reflects the Club’s spirit and cultural richness.
Working in collaboration with Pony Design Co (Interior Design), JHA (Lighting Design), and Lucia Braham (Photography), ADesignStudio contributed a custom lighting solution that anchors the foyer with sculptural presence and ambient warmth. A bespoke pendant featuring our Eon Sans Crackle lights forms the centrepiece of the space, suspended above a tranquil water feature that greets guests upon arrival. Throughout the foyer, semi-recessed Crackle fittings continue the visual language, subtle yet expressive, echoing the organic forms and earthy textures that define the interior palette.
The design draws on oriental influences, shoji screens, a Zen Garden-inspired carpet, and symbolic touches of red, blue, and gold, each chosen for their Feng Shui significance. Mountain motifs, representing stability and protection, are woven into the architecture to ground the space. These elements are unified by a lighting scheme that enhances tactility, flow, and emotional resonance.
From the street-facing façade to the interior threshold, the Chatswood RSL entranceway is a study in cohesion, where materiality, symbolism, and light converge to create a space that is both welcoming and memorable.
