BASEL
Designed by founder and director Alex Fitzpatrick in 2019, the lamp was born from a deep appreciation for the work of Swiss sculptor Alberto Giacometti. Celebrated for his elongated, minimalist figures, Giacometti’s practice of reducing forms to their emotional essence became the conceptual foundation for the Basel T1.
Rather than echoing Giacometti’s visual style, Fitzpatrick embraced his philosophy, stripping the design back to its purest form without compromising its function. The result is a lamp that feels both sculptural and restrained, balancing minimalism with a warm, purposeful glow.
In a recent evolution of the design, ADesignStudio collaborated with artist Dina Broadhurst to introduce a more expressive dimension to the Basel F1. This collaboration explores personalised light through vibrant hues and colour combinations, offering a contemporary twist that brings new energy and individuality to the original design.
