A landmark exhibition of contemporary Australian design features ADesignStudio’s Greenway pendant alongside iconic design pieces such as Marc Newson’s iconic Embryo Chair. Curated by ex-Vogue Living editor David Clark, ‘At Home: Modern Australian Design’ is a survey of more than 60 pieces from the last 70 years.

Held in Old Government House from November 2016 – January 2017, the exhibition focused on furniture, lighting and objects from the 20th and 21st Centuries. These contemporary pieces were placed in rooms throughout the original Georgian building, in conversation with original pieces from Old Government House collection from the same period.

The Greenway pendant was suspended in the Entry Hall, in place of an original hanging lantern. “I thought the light was accomplished,” says curator David Clark. “There was a very neat fit with the piece in Old Government House however because it was called the Greenway Lantern and the portico of the house was designed by Greenway around 1816 (I think). So I enjoyed the relationship between that portico and the light just behind the front door in the entry.”

The exhibition “of what I think are the most important designers in Australia now,” in Clark’s opinion, was well received by media and audiences over the three-month period.
