ADesignStudio by Alex Fitzpatrick is a manufacturing and consultancy practice specialising in lighting design and development, based in Sydney, Australia.

‘We Light to Enhance Life’ is the philosophy of the studio, representing the power of lighting to transform space, experience, emotions, health and wellbeing. This transformation is created by balancing the scientific and poetic aspects of light, which is the underlying approach of ADesignStudio.

Based in Sydney, designs are often inspired by Australian heritage, society, environment and experience, with a strong narrative focus finding expression in individual pieces. In a practical sense, the products harness the benefits of contemporary technology, taking care to maximise energy-efficiency, and consider the warmth of light and long life. New manufacturing processes bolster the richness of traditional approaches, while materials are sensitively selected to capture and reflect the beauty and function of both the light source and design.

ADesignStudio has exhibited at international design exhibitions, featured in various local and global design media, and won several design awards.

Alex graduated in industrial design from the University of Alberta, Canada in 2008. Over the past nine years he has developed his knowledge and experience in the lighting industry, honing his skills and winning national and international accolades for architectural lighting and luminaire design, both independently and whilst working within leading lighting consultancies.
